Biography Seiler, Willy (1903 - ?)

Born in Dresden, Germany, Willy Seiler received his artistic schooling in that city and in Munich, after which he also spent two years in Paris. He left Germany in 1928, never to return. He was a true globetrotter, visiting more than 44 countries during his lifetime. It is highly probable that he visited Japan before WWII, but we know for sure he permanently settled there in 1948. In that period he instructed American Army personnel in oil painting and sketching at the Tokyo Army College. During his lifetime he was very popular as an artist. So far I have not been able to find the year when he died.
