Biography Sugiyama, Motosugu (1925 - ?)

Sugiyama Motosugu was born in 1925 and after his marriage moved to Tokyo, where he had a business career. In 1975, at the age of 50, he began studying woodblock art with Funasaka Yoshisuke. He created a number of woodblock prints, which were well received and after retiring from work in 1995 he decided to embark on a full-time artistic career. His style is very much his own, and his work has gained recognition at home and abroad.
