Biography Tsukioka, Gyokusei (1908 - 1994)

Tsukioka Gyokusei is the daughter of Tsukioka Kogyo, who made his name with a large number of woodblock prints depicting the Noh theatre. In 1929 she graduated at the Women's Specialist School of Fine Arts. She succeeded her father in specializing in depictions of Noh Theater scenes. She also used the artist's name Kōbun. In the late 1930s she made some 30 Noh prints with the publisher Watanabe Shōzaburō.
