Biography Aoyama, Masaharu (1893 - 1969)
As a young man Aoyama Masaharu (also known as Aoyama Seiji) studied ink painting at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. After a career in the Imperial Household Museum he retired early in 1936. Already in the 1920s his first woodblock prints were exhibited. After WWII he continued working: part of his work was self-printed, part was done for the publisher Ishiyama. |
