Biography Takahashi, Tasaburō (1904 - 1977)

Takahashi Tasaburō was a student of the painter and occasional printmaker Tsuchida Bakusen; he was also influenced by Nagase Yoshiro. He had graduated at the Kyoto Technical School of Painting. In 1935-36 he exhibited with the Nihon Hanga Kyōkai. Before WWII he had already cooperated with Tokuriki Tomikichirō . In 1948 the latter, Takahashi Tasaburō, Kamei Tobei and Kotozuka Eiichi established a company named Koryokusha to publish their own Sōsaku hanga. Kōrokusha was financed by Matsukyō, a company owned by Tokuriki Tomikichirō. Tomikichirō's heart was with the self-carved and self-printed Sōsaku hanga prints.
