Biography Morita, Tsunetomo (1881 - 1933)
Tsunetomo Morita graduated at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts in 1906; he was in the same class as Yamamoto Kanae. He was very active in the group that was involved in the early Sôsaku Hanga publications, like Heitan and Hôsun. He was a member of the group Pan no Kai between 1908 and 1911. In 1914 he went to Europe, and he was a member of Yamamoto Kanae's circle in Paris and Brittany. He contributed two sets of five prints each to Nihon fûkei hanga - Japan scenery prints in 1917. In his later years he devoted himself to Japanese-style ink painting. |
