Biography Kikuchi, Zenjirō (1911 - )
Zenjirō Kikuchi was a victim of WWII. After being active in the 1930s in the Shin Hanga Shūdan and in the Zōkei Hanga Kyōkai he was drafted into the army and was killed while serving his country. His main work consists of b/w prints of proletarian subjects or of scenes in his home town, which was situated on the old Tokaido highway. Sometimes he used "ZEN" as his signature (carved in the block). |
